Can you read what I write?
No. Your writing is stored encrypted on your phone, and backups are encrypted before they leave it with a key we never receive. When you sort a dump, that text is sent to an AI model to be categorised and comes straight back — we do not store it or write it to any log.
What happens if I lose my recovery code?
Your backup cannot be decrypted — not by you, and not by us. There is no reset, because a reset would mean we held a key, and we deliberately do not. Keep it somewhere safe, like a password manager.
Will it change my words?
Only to fix them. It corrects spelling, grammar and words your phone mis-heard, so each item reads as a proper sentence when you come back to it a week later — and it always writes in the language you used, never translating. Your original dump is kept exactly as you typed or said it, and you can edit any item yourself.
Does it work without internet?
Writing, reading, editing and reminders all work offline. Sorting a new dump needs a connection, because that is the part an AI model does.
Is this therapy or a mental health service?
No. Mind Clutter is an organisation and journalling tool, not medical care, and nothing it shows you is clinical advice. If you are struggling, please talk to a qualified professional.
Will my thoughts be used to train AI?
No. Not by us, and not by the model provider.
Can I use it on more than one device?
Yes. Turn on backup, enter the same recovery code on your other phone or tablet, and everything stays in step. Backup and sync is a Premium feature, included in the free trial.
What happens to my backup if I stop paying?
Syncing stops, and a few days later the app deletes the encrypted copy from our servers — the delay is there so a renewal or a store outage never costs you a backup. We do not hold your writing hostage to a renewal, and we would rather not store data for people who are not paying for it. Everything on your phone stays exactly where it is, and CSV export is free forever, so you can always take it all with you. Subscribe again and the app offers to turn backup back on with a fresh recovery code. Backups nobody has touched for 12 months are deleted too.
